This page is for our oldest berners in our group <3  It is so good to see our breed get old and grey !

Brandi is 12 years old, her birthday is Febr.28th 2006

Her mom Amy told me this ,

We feed a combination of Origen and raw, supplemented with homemade yogurt, fresh fruits & veggies. We walk or hike with her at least twice a day. We are fortunate to live in the county with wide open spaces and woods. Keeping her active and roaming the fields and woods keep her interested and she loves to track the wildlife that has recently been through the area. Brandi loves people and thinks all visitors are here to see her!

As she had advancing arthritis, we are taking shorter walks but try to get 3 each day. We supplement her diet with fish oil, salmon oil, Welly Tails, and now a bit of pain and anti-inflammatory meds. This girl loves to be massaged and get a good stretch on her legs. Follow that with a brush and she’s one very happy camper!

We do vaccinate, but only the required ones. Anything else we politely turn down. Our area is not into tittering, so that makes the cost out of sight.

Brand has seen a chiropractic vet for about 4 years and we feel that this gave her a new lease on life. Our regular vet wanted to start on heavy pain pills, but we found a chiro about 30 minutes from home. She was remarkably better after her first adjustment and she fell deeply in love with the doctor. She goes every 4 weeks for laser therapy, adjustment and an Adequan injection. Everyone in the facility loves on her! And, you know she returns the love in spades.

Maddi is 12 years old! Birthday January 13, 2006

Her mom Maureen told me this ,

Anabern's Moon Maiden Thalassa - Maddi - Born January 13, 2006 - BG # 30686. Maddi has been raw fed all her life and comes from several generations of raw feeding - minimal vaccine protocol with titres yearly. Maddi must be the cat with 9 lives - over the years she has given far too many scares but this girl gets over it and keeps on going. Maddi is happy and wild. She loves life, the wetter and muddier the better. We have done some draft work, rally and tried tracking (total bust as Maddi only wanted to track me - but we had fun) Maddi is cheeky and a singer and I can't think of anyone who has spent more than a couple of minutes with her who hasn't fallen in love. Most of all Maddi loves to party with all her family and friends - at the beach, in the rain with food. Lots and lots of food. I am so thrilled to be one with Maddi. Best gift ever.

Harley is 12 years old! His birthday is March 14th 2006! Harley left to go to rainbow bridge 3-15-2018 <3

Handsome Harley DOB 3-15-2006 DOD 3-15-2018 BG# 50825 vaccines...only vaccines up til the age of 2 or3. Than titers after that. food...mostly raw fed his whole life. health...we mostly took the holistic approach to taking care of Harley. He did test positive for lymes. Started with arthritis at the around the age 10. We did use some supplements which I believed really helped him live a long and happy life. At the age of 11 years 9months we found a tumor on his lung. At the ripe old age of 12 we helped Harley cross over the rainbow bridge due to complications from the tumor on his lung. Most likely lung cancer. Harley knew he was a lucky dog. He was very fortunate to probably have the worlds largest 12th birthday party celebration thanks to the BERNER FRIENDS WORLD WIDE. We are forever thankful!!! Favorite things to do..take his long slow strolls through his favorite park and make people smile. Loved his car rides. Go on vacation up and down the east coast with his moms.

KaiAnn was born 3/13/05 , she is 13 years old!!

KaiAnn was born 3/13/05 in Wiley, CO. She has grown up eating Blue kibble but has been on Fromms Gold for the last few years. KaiAnn has 2 siblings, a Border Collie sister, Dakota, that we got at the same time as KaiAnn. She also has a little brother Lhasa names Marques that she absolutely adores. KaiAnn did Agility with me and Dakota for awhile, but decided she didn't really like it as she ran out of the ring one day. She was a beautiful jumper. Arthritis set in on her hips. She had a tumor removal on her back leg done in 2013. We were very lucky to catch it early. She's been on medications for her hips for awhile and really gets around pretty well considering her age. The meds are Galliprant, tramadol and Gabapentin. She loved to go on long walks with us until her arthritis got so bad, now she enjoys short walks and just being with all of us. She also got her Canine Good Citizens back in 2011. She stays current on all vacinations required as well as her Nexgard and Interceptor. She is the typical Berner Bull when wanting additional attention and we accommodate happily. She is such a joy to all of us and we know how blessed we've been to have her this long....every day is a blessing with her.

This is TigaLilli , born 11th March 2006, She is 12 years old.

This is TigaLilli (her posh name is Trudaleaze TigaLilli) and she was born 11th March 2006, the only girl with 4 brother’s. The name TigaLilli popped into my head the minute she was born so the name stuck. She is the matriarch of The Trudaleaze Riot Squad here in England and she lives with 2 of her children (8 year old Tynzel & 7 year old Jethro), 3 of her grandkidz (Kipper, Sparkle & Tango) and an adopted bernese. She loves to go for holiday’s away in the caravan and when she sees us getting things ready she is the first to jump in. She’s had a wonderful show career. Amongst her wins she was Best Puppy Bitch at Crufts in 2006 (an award her granddaughter Tango also won in 2015) and she has been for 2 years the oldest Veteran in Show at The Northern Bernese Mountain Dog Clubs SuperLeague. The previous 3 years this award was won by her half brother Banjo – we are very proud of our Veterans here at Trudaleaze. Up until last year she represented the breed on the Discover Dogs stand at Crufts do show and thrived on the attention – often playing the clown to get extra cuddles if people were not paying enough attention to her! TigaLili recently celebrated her 12th birthday with an afternoon tea party at a local doggie diner – some of her kidz and grandkidz attended and a lovely afternoon was had by all with cake and ice cream all round. Cuddles with this special girl are the highlight of my day and I hope we have a few years left of snuggles – she has a noisy greeting and a wagging tail for all she meets and she really has been such an easy dog and a pleasure to share my life with.

Heidi was born April 4th,2005, she will be 13 very soon!

Her mom Liz told us this :)

Heidi was born April 4th,2005. She will be 13 next week!! YAY! She does have bad arthritis in her hips so she gets a shot of Adequan once a week with Dasuquin, tramadol and gabapentin everyday. We don't vaccinate anymore except for rabies. We feed our dogs Authority Senior by Petsmart. We also give them sliced turkey and cheese with peanut butter. Heidi Loves being upstairs in our King sized bed and will whine and bark for me to go up there and keep her company!! I am hoping that we will make the WW BERNER walk in May.

Clementine Cleopatra Cobb, Berner Garde #143362 , born August 13, 2005. She is 12 years young.

Her mom Kristen told us this :)

I’m so blessed to say that Clementine is doing really well!! She’s been raw fed since 7 weeks, but don’t get me wrong, she loves people food scraps, and we can’t go through the Starbucks drive-thru without a puppachino. I supplement her diet with turmeric, milk thistle, vitamin E, fish oil, and a variety of others, including goat milk, fish and turkey stock, kefir and Dasuquin daily. She has always received the required vaccinations. Clementine gets two walks a day and we also have weekly visits to a facility where she gets a combination of swimming, acupuncture, agility, laser therapy and stretching. She has some arthritis in her back legs, so we mix it up and stay on top of it with those activities. I also give her anti-inflammatories to assist. Keeping her lean at 72 pounds has been beneficial. Since the age of 8, Clementine has been getting a comprehensive physical every year, which is really valuable to keep on top of all things health related. Clementine is very happy, smart, sassy, funny and social, and enjoys tons of family time, long walks, exploring, camping, pontoon boat rides, train rides, visits to the mountains, meet-ups with her Berner friends, butt rubs galore, cuddling in bed, and our yearly fundraising event for a local animal charity. And of course, there's her yearly themed birthday celebrations, which are the social event of the year, and rightfully so. She was also recently selected to represent our local Veterinarian Hospital in their marketing campaign. Proud Mama here. I am beyond blessed, thankful and grateful for my beautiful fur baby. Clementine is my heart, and I love her more than life itself!!

Beautiful Thulia is 12 years old! Her birthday is June 14, 2006)

Thulia (pronounced "Tulia") is our second Berner. Her predecessor, Boaz, lived to be eleven and a half. Thulia has had a puppy personality from Day 1 (June 14, 2006)--full of energy and bouncing off walls from the beginning. It's only been in the last few years that she's kind of settled down a little. We weren't in any hurry. We've loved that personality, and she retains the same warmth and sweetness at age twelve even if she's lost a little of the exuberance. She has more than her share of lovable quirks, including going back and forth between our legs while we rub her sides--the "car wash" maneuver. Less lovable is her habit of waking us up in the middle of the night to let us know there is thunder and lightning--of which she is petrified. We really don't have any secrets to her good health and longevity (or that of Boaz) other than obtaining her through a responsible breeder, taking her in for regular vet check-ups, and keeping her weight under control. More recently--the last couple of years--we've been giving her daily glucosamine tablets and low-dose aspirin. The weight control has been as helpful as anything, we think. Our vet has emphasized that dogs being overweight has a huge impact on how long they'll live in general, and on joint pain and function in particular, so we've tried to be careful on that. Otherwise, we feed her higher-end kibble and give her as much exercise as she seems to enjoy (a walk or two a day, usually). Mostly we just give her a lot of attention and love--easy to do--and we don't leave her alone if at all possible. I'm self-employed so I have the luxury of taking her to my office every day, which she loves. She'd sleep all day under my old roll-top desk if I let her. Like most Berners (all Berners?) she's happiest when she's with us. We sometimes tell people she's a "Bernese Attention Hound." We hope her heath continues to hold out for a long time to come because it's going to kill us when we have to say goodbye.

Handsome happy Oslo. 11 years old! His date of birth is 03-26-2007. His bernergarde number is: 74994.

My dog's name is Oslo. His date of birth is 03-26-2007. His bernergarde number is: 74994. Right now he gets Purina Pro Plan Adult dry dog food. Hes is getting particular as to what he wants to eat. He gets cheese, a hamburger once in a while and some canned dog food mixed with the dry. He gets his VX yearly. DA2LP, Bordtella, and Rabies. He is normally quiet, but our 2 younger dogs start to play he barks. He can no longer rough house with them. So he "plays" with them by barking. He spends most of the day in the AC. (We live in Louisiana) When I am home he is by my side. We did try drafting when he was younger and he did earn his Novice Draft Dog Title. If you need any more info, please let me know. Thank you for recognizing the older dogs. This is a recent pic of him. I like it because it looks like he is smiling and enjoying his life.

Kaiser Ludwig just turned 11 on the 13.8.18

kaiser.jpg

Our Kaiser Ludwig just turned 11 on the 13.8.18 He is with us since he is 12 weeks old and is the most decent dog. The only time he cries is if my washing mashine is unbalanced, then he runs in and out of the house laundry and wants to help it. In Winter he sometimes gets antiinflammatories for a few days if he is unsettled at night. Years ago i used to give him golden paste for a while. But he is usually just fine. We walk every day, always different routes, so he gets different smells and can dream about them. We walk around the wetlands, or to the beach or just around the neighborhood. I still take him regular with the bike on gentle runs that he greatly enjoys since he is a puppy. He has another Berner Friend here in the street that he met as a little pup and now that friend is still 8 years younger than him but 20kg bigger, but he is just in general a bigger bear then our Kaiser. Only one summer here in Australia he was unsettled with the heat when we had over 40 degrees and up to 44 and 46 for a whole week. He paced for a day, refused the little pool we made him but as soon as he found relieve by putting his head under the sprinkler he was his happy self again. I'm always worried he will hurt himself with his crazy dance before we go on a walk. But apart from getting stitches after he broke a window with excitement because my daughters boyfriend came home, he has been fine. And we cherrish every moment we have with him because we know we have already been so lucky to have had so many years with him, but we also all know it's never enough
